Melissa Killeen

Melissa Killeen, MSOD, MPhil, is a nationally recognized recovery coach, recovery coach trainer, addiction recovery advocate, author, and executive coach with more than 30 years of personal recovery experience and decades of leadership in behavioral health, professional coaching, and business development. As a pioneer in the field of recovery coaching, she has helped shape the modern recovery coaching profession and has trained thousands of recovery coaches, peer support specialists, and behavioral health professionals across the United States.

Melissa specializes in addiction recovery coaching, executive recovery coaching, professional recovery support, relapse prevention, recovery capital development, life coaching for people in recovery, and leadership development for recovery professionals. She works extensively with executives, entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals, and business leaders seeking long-term sobriety, improved work-life balance, stronger relationships, and sustained personal and professional success.

A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Melissa has served as President of Recovery Coaches International, one of the leading organizations advancing recovery coach training and professional standards. In recognition of her contributions to the recovery movement, she received the prestigious Vernon Johnson Award from Faces & Voices of Recovery for her lifelong commitment to expanding access to recovery support services and promoting recovery-oriented systems of care.

Melissa is a Nationally Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (NCPRSS) through NAADAC and is a certified Recovery Coach Trainer through Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR). She also holds advanced certifications in LIFO® behavioral assessment, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT/Tapping), Matrix Reimprinting, recovery coaching supervision, and strengths-based coaching methodologies.

She is the author of Recovery Coaching: A Guide to Coaching People in Recovery from Addictions, widely recognized as the first published book dedicated exclusively to recovery coaching. The book has become a foundational resource for recovery coaches, peer specialists, addiction counselors, treatment professionals, recovery community organizations, and individuals seeking evidence-informed approaches to addiction recovery, recovery management, and sustained wellness.
